Case Description

The municipalities of Rotterdam and Schiedam positioned circles in public parks to support people in keeping a safe distance from one another. With the help of employees the municipal cleaning services, several circles were painted on the grass of public parks. The aim of the project is to offer people a playful and secure way to gather and relax outdoor. The circles are around 4 meters in diameter and allow no more than two people to lay inside to respect the local guidelines. They offer a safe way to spend time in the fresh air and in contact with nature.

Relation to Resilience

The project allows people to gather in public green space, enabling people to escape their social isolation and to be reconnected with other people and nature.
