Presentation at Shaping Resilient Communities International Conference
Martijn de Waal presented ‘From Prevention to Resilience‘ at the international conference ’Shaping Resilient Communities. Global perspectives towards implementation of the New Urban Agenda‘, which took place on September 17th, 2021, at the Italian pavilion at Venice Biennale of Architecture.
The conference engaged eminent scholars in lectures and roundtable discussions on the research and practice of resilience, in its environmental, urban, social and economic meanings, and included the participation of UN-Habitat, in order to frame the concept of resilience in the ongoing efforts regarding the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, adopted at the Habitat III conference in Quito (2016). ‘Shaping Resilient Communities’ provided an opportunity to continue the discussion on the importance of public space culture in cities as a key asset for sustainable, inclusive and resilient development, in order to leave no one behind. The conference was also live-streamed via Facebook; you can watch the presentations by clicking below. The ‘From Prevention to Resilience’ presentation begins at 1:19:24.
‘Shaping Resilient Communities’ is part of the project ‘Mapping Resilient Communities’ developed for the Italian pavilion at Venice Biennale of Architecture. It is the fourth conference of the series ‘Past Present and Future of Public Space’ promoted by City Space Architecture.
