Case Description
The temporary art installation, ‘Together apart’, consisted of “375 coated mesh fabric ribbons stretched between the roofline of the Billund community building and the ground. Connected to the ground along an undulating line that curves in on itself, the ribbons create a series of cellular spaces.” The installation attempted to “capture the tension between gathering together and remaining apart by creating multiple interconnected but individuated and isolated spaces.” While the ribbons separate individual spaces, their porosity visualizes the interconnectivity between them.
Relation to Resilience
With this installation, the architects aim to create alternative possibilities for people to move and interact with each other in a new way, representing the contrast between the current people’s desires and necessities. It symbolises the potential for new ways to connect, share and relate one to another.
